Shah is a former poetry editor of the Asian Pacific American Journal. She holds an MA in American Literature from Rutgers University and is the recipient of a Virginia Voss Poetry Award from the University of Michigan. Born in Ahmedabad, India, Shah lives in New York City, where she recently served for seven and a half years as the executive director at Sakhi for South Asian Women, a community-based anti–domestic violence organization. She is currently traveling, consulting on the issue of violence against women, and working on a second collection of poetry.
Our other performer that evening will be Sudeip Ghosh, who has been working as a music composer while fusing both Western and Hindi Rock, championing the cause of Desi Rock for the last ten years. He has played both domestic and international venues playing both Bollywood and heavy metal music.
